The Canadian government has changed the legislation to now include NBS in their wage subsidy!!
This means that the situation for NBS is much brighter! We still believe that the school will need all the help it can get, and would therefore still like to push to our goal of $10,000.
Original: COVID-19 has created extraordinary times for the world. The arts community has especially been impacted. As you may have heard, NBS is facing a particularly difficult financial time. They were recently excluded from Canada's Emergency Wage Subsidy. First and foremost NBS is an elite ballet school, but because their mission recognizes the importance of academics, it is this academic program that made them ineligible for this funding. It seems crazy to us that they would lose out on funding because of this technicality.
We have attached the National Post's article where you can find more information. We are NBS alumni and as soon as we read this article we felt compelled to try and help NBS get through this difficult time. We all know what NBS does for its students, graduates, community, and THE WORLD!!!! This school has touched so many peoples lives, whether they even realize it or not.
As a token of our gratitude towards this amazing school and its wonderful teachers and staff, we have decided to start a GoFundMe page. Our goal is to reach as many NBS alumni and friends as possible, so please take this message and share it as far and wide as you can!
