Canada Run for Mental Health Awareness
Donation protected
My name is Skylar Roth-MacDonald and I am a 24 year old ultra-runner based out of Calgary, AB
The first goal is to successfully run across Canada in 150 days or less. I will begin in Victoria, B.C on June 1, 2021 with the finish line being in St. John’s N.L. nearing the end of October. The run will follow all covid-19 regulations, including a 14 day quarantine following my arrival in the Atlantic bubble, if still a requirement at the time.
The second and main goal is to raise at least $50,000 for the Canadian Mental Health Association, while raising awareness with as many Canadians as possible. I am currently applying for grants to receive funding for a film that will show the journey, the adversity, the goal setting, and the mental health struggles. Then after completion of the film, my goal is to travel the country going to schools to watch the film, talk about my story, and how we can all overcome adversity, how we can help our mental health, and how we can set goals and why they are so important.
This goal cannot be achieved alone. The cost of the run with a vehicle (RV), fuel, food, ferry tolls, running shoes (11 pairs will be needed roughly), first aid gear, and all that stuff, with the addition of hiring a filmmaker brings me to $40-$45 thousand dollars as a cost to this run. So I kindly ask for your support which will be greatly appreciated! Especially when I am on day 97 eating a much needed sandwich thanks to Sherri from Manitoba's $6 donation :)
Thank you!
