Canada: Coast to Coast: For Mental Health

Donation protected
Hello friends!

For my whole teenage and adult life I have struggled with my mental health. Primarily depression and at times suicidal thoughts. Recently I have starting facing these issues by seeing a counselor and I am learning so much about myself and my complicated past.

When growing up I never had access to mental health treatment for various reasons. In fact seeing a mental health professional was discouraged heavily.  Thankfully I made the decision to disregard what I was taught and am now getting the help I need to be a happier and healthier Jeff!

I would like to help to encourage others to seek that help that they need and reduce the stigma attached to seeing a therapist. As such, in 2020 I am challenging myself to ride across Canada to help raise awareness for suicide prevention and mental health!

I will be taking time off work to achieve a goal I have had for many years. Not just for myself but to also spread the message that everyone can overcome the feelings of fear and despair they may feel about goals and their future self.

I have received very generous support from my awesome friend Chris at Giant White Rock/Langley. He has helped me with the bike and gear I need to complete my trip. He truly supports this cause and jumped at the chance to help me out and I encourage you to go visit him for all your biking needs! www.giantwhiterock.com

How can my friends and family help me? One is to donate to a charity that helps people cope with mental health. I have chosen the Canadian Mental Health Association to give to. You can follow this link to donate directly: https://cmha.ca/get-involved

However if you would prefer another charity or even choose to donate your time that's cool too!

Secondly if you would like to help me fund my trip I have set up this Go Fund Me page for that reason. I will be camping most nights and hopefully meeting some really nice people who will put me up for a night. I expect this trip will take around 60 days as I won't be looking to break records. It will all be about the experience and learning about myself.

Thirdly, if you wouldn't mind sharing this on your social media pages to help spread the word, that would be awesome too!

I am pretty nervous and excited to do something that brings me WAY out of my comfort zone.

THANK YOU to all my awesome friends and family for helping spread the word about the importance of mental health.
