Can you help me make my dream become a reality?
Hello, my name is Joshua Ruff and I suffer from a degenerative disease, Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. My passions in life are my family, architecture, landscaping and gardening.
In 2019 I helped build our very own solar passive home totally off the grid in Maldon, Victoria. Building this home has been a dream of mine. I spent many hours designing and researching and it’s amazing to see it almost complete.
During March 2020, everything was turned on it’s head. I took a turn for the worst and have been in ICU in Melbourne for the past few weeks as a result of a chest infection that took its toll on my body. I have just been transferred to another hospital to help with my rehabilitation process in regards to breathing, eating, drinking and talking.
I hope to return home soon as I’ve been told I should be home within the next 4 weeks. Sadly, however, we have exhausted funds through the build to complete the important final element to our home; my garden.
The garden is the place I spend most of my time and where I feel happiest. My hope has always been to create my legacy through an, “open garden” where we’ll allow the public access to walk through and enjoy the plants, bees, flowers, paths, fountains and ponds. A special place where people can escape the trappings of life and enjoy nature in the space I’ve designed and created. I’ve never asked for money before, however following the events of the past few weeks I really would love to be able to experience my dream becoming a reality.
