Can you help Dillon Wood with his recovery
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Melissa Ryman and I am fundraising for Dillon Wood. Dillon is my daughter Faith's fiance. He was in a single motorcycle accident October 5th, 2021 which resulted in numerous injuries. It was noted right away that he had no feeling from the waist down when the first responders and EMS were checking him over. He was then transported to Spectrum Butterworth where multiple tests were ran and he was placed immediately in ICU. They ran multiple tests/scans and by early morning October 6, he was going in for spinal surgery. There they placed 3 rods and multiple screws in his spine. He has a severe spinal cord injury, a C1 fracture, T6 fracture w/near complete displacement, T4-T6 compression spinal cord, broken vertebrae T4-T12, multiple broken ribs, and a broken nose. He has chest tubes in each side to drain the fluid out of his lungs. He has had a bronchoscopy. He gets a nebulizer treatment every 6 hours. Dillon has a nerve block in his ribs to help with the pain from his broken ribs. He has many CT scans and X-rays frequently. He works with physical therapy, occupational therapy, and respiratory therapy. There are probably many other things that I am missing. Dillon was told by the doctor that he would have a 1% chance of ever walking again. (Our God is bigger than this diagnosis and I believe he will walk again!) With that being said, he is going to have many medical bills, they are going to need to make new living arrangements, adjustments and accomodations to those living arrangements. He is going to be going to Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation hospital for at least one month, if not longer. Once he has completed the inpatient therapy there they will be moving in with his parents, Mike and Linda. There will need to be some accommodations made for Dillon. Wheelchair ramp, handicap accessible bathroom, and whatever else is needed to make the home more accessible/accommodating for him. Hopefully some of the money raised will be able to go towards helping with that also. He was the sole provider for their family and they are expecting their first baby in March. On top of the financial aspect, he needs ALL the prayers he can get. If praying is not your thing, please keep him in your thoughts. He is the most kind, generous, thoughtful, respectful young man. If someone else was in this situation, he'd be the first one to help. Please, if you could help in any way, it would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!!
