Help Me Finish College and Get To LA

For those of you viewing this that do not know me, my name is Cam Torres! Many people in my life will know that since I was seven years old the only thing I wanted to do was be an actor. Yes, an actor. After high school I spent two years fighting to get to Emerson College, the place I knew I needed to be to study the craft that I love and will continue to pursue. My family, my mother especially have gone above and beyond to find way after way for me to afford such an expensive education. Despite the expense they saw my passion and my determination and found a way to get me there. However, because times are hard and money is scarce they have only been able to provide what they could semester by semester. Now, with only two semesters left options have run out and without the money I seek I will be forced to leave college without a degree making my hard work, determination, and perseverance worth nothing.Now more than ever I need your support.


But why should you donate to an acting major? Why should you help me?


1. Education and craft is the basis of everything. Without it I would be reduced to go off instinct alone, which I have learned through my education is only 30% of what acting is.


2. I have worked incredibly hard. I have spent the last year and a half commuting to Boston, which is over an hour from where I live, over three days a week in order to pursue my dreams. All the while, I have done two Emerson Stage shows, where some people leave the college doing none. I have done 21 hour days waking at 5 AM and not getting home until 2 AM due to rehearsal and school activities and then waking again at five to do it all over again. I am the definition of committed. (Not to mention I work part-time)

3. I have been accepted into Emerson College's Los Angeles Program. A program that gives me the opportunity to finish my last semester (Fall 2014) living in Los Angeles on Emerson's brand new LA campus. There I will have an even greater opportunity to intern at one of several internship opportunities in the area. Not only that, but I will be in Los Angeles. Hollywood. I will be in the city where opportunity for film and television live and thrive.


I need your help for any of this to come to fruition.


But what is this even all about?


The truth is I need money for this up coming Spring semester. $5,000 is the minimum of what I need, but it is a start. It is an inch of the mile I still have to go, but it would help. Anything would help. If I fail to attend school come January 17th everything I have striven for will be all for nothing. If you know me at all, you know how hard it is for me to ask for help. I am desperate. Anything you can do will help.
