We would like to engage longhouse elders, Clan Mothers, and women to discuss the oral history of the past, and challenges faced today for cultural process and identity of Coast Salish Peoples.
Native Women are Sacred; and hold a place within the longhouse and deemed voiceless under the Indian Act laws.Let us bring forward
Native Women and their stories, and where they are today socially and economically. Elders are the teachers for the next generation, and after generations of isolation, residential school, economic collapse, the societies have collapsed under colonial laws. Clan Mothers that carry important knowledge for the next generation must be recorded and defined and acknowledged for reconciliation. To say "reconciliation" and without giving Native Women permission to provide important information carried down over 10,000 years, is denying them a voice or their rightful place within their society.
The Women of the Longhouse carry the word of law for the care for the Salish Sea's, Lands, Families, and Coast Salish Society and protocols. We seek Reconciliation for Native Women with Respect.
1) Listen to families/elders of the lands of Cowichan and collect data and information on the Names of Women of Cowichan
2) Finding out information on the longhouse families to engage in Reconciliation, for written translation of culture and traditions
3) Record findings to promote Cowichan - to build acknowledgement and reference for goals
4) Historical names and places named after women of the longhouse
5) Remove the sexism, classism, and racism from land, territorial names, and serious conflict of policy

We seek to end the atrocities of colonisation under policies and legislative acts the continue to cause serious damage to Coast Salish Longhouse Peoples today, and the goal is to move toward Justice Reform. Inviting special speakers to discuss Justice and the Indian Act & Native Women
