Ukrainian Humanitarian Initiative
Heading back to Cherkasy, Ukraine July 5-9th to volunteer at the Summer Camp put on by the Ukrainian Humanitarian Initiative for the 5 to 18-year-old children enrolled in the local area state run orphanages, several of which I spent time volunteering at in 2013.
Hoping to raise funds from friends for this next trip to go towards a special project donation, possible an addition to their playground or trade craft workshop upgrades.
I will be keeping ya’ll updated on the progress throughout my trip!
I will be bringing over little USA-themed gifts with me in my suitcase for the kiddos and loads of English-language teaching posters for their schoolrooms.
Last time, the money that was raised bought much needed home improvement supplies, building materials, etc. for the trade craft workshop for the boys and stich materials for the girls trade crafts.

The Ukrainian Humanitarian Initiative (UHI) is a voluntary, not-for-profit charitable foundation dedicated to improving the quality of life for children living in orphanages and provide humanitarian aid and support for the needy children in Ukraine, the third largest country in Eastern Europe. The purpose and mission of UHI centers on providing immediate aid to those most vulnerable in Ukraine, which is a country in the midst of social upheaval and economic change as it proceeds on a sometimes difficult path towards democracy. As in most times of political and national upheaval, the children suffer the most. Also our mission is to fund professionally guided programs dealing with health, education and the prevention of abuse of children. The use of the funds donated by UHI is always earmarked for specific programs and closely monitored.
