Camp Skudiweecook Scouting Heritage Project

Donation protected
In 1931 the Warren, Ohio, Boy Scout council established Camp Skudiweecook, BSA, in Windham, Ohio. For a decade, local scout troops conducted summer camp and held camporees at the camp.  The camp had cabins, tent sites with gateways and a waterfront. In 1940, the federal government fenced in the land as part of the Ravenna Arsenal, now operated by the Ohio National Guard and known as Camp James A. Garfield (CJAG). In 1941 the scout council moved its camp operations to Camp Chickagami for the next 50 years. The archaeological ruins of Camp Skudiweecook still exists within the boundary of the military facility and is being re-established as an recreational area that can be used by local scout troops and other community groups.

The funds being raised will be used to place a large gateway at the original entrance to the  create a campfire circle with a refurbished campfire place and bench seating for 36. The gateway will be  a 16 foot tall x 20 foot wide gateway that reads "Camp Skudiweecook".

This project is an Eagle Scout project being led by Eagle Scout candidate Aidan McGee who is a member of Troop 28, Howland, Ohio. Aidan, as well as the many scouts troops and community groups that will use this camp area, will be grateful for any donations provided to support this project.
