If you don't already know about us, Camp Friendship is a family-owned summer camp and retreat center in the small town of Palmyra, Virginia. We exist to connect people and nature in a meaningful way.
Built on dreams over 50 years ago, Camp Friendship is one of those places that lets you forget about the problems of the world. A place where time seems to pass more slowly, causing you to wonder what decade you’re in.
The Camp Friendship family is, well, just that—a family.
Chuck Ackenbom established Camp Friendship in 1966 with the dream of gathering people from all over the world, and the business is still proudly run by the Ackenbom family today. We believe in what we do in offering a place for kids to embrace their individuality, form meaningful connections and create lifelong memories. We run our business with the intention of it being here for generations to come. We certainly aren’t going to give up now.

Adding value to children's lives is truly the heartbeat of camp, so the Ackenbom family and our team will continue working tirelessly to stay afloat. There is no roadmap for how to live life and operate a small business in light of a serious global pandemic, and we are working hard in an effort to make it to the other side. We have weathered many challenges over our 54 year history, but we have never had to sustain the cancellation of a summer and are not built to do so. As more families are affected by Covid-19, we know there is ever greater personal loss and stress. We stand together in mutual support, empathy and solidarity and are thankful for anything you are able to give.
