Camp Fire Film

Dear Community,

My name is Emmanuelle Antolin, and I am an independent filmmaker. I am deeply honored to be following the lives of two survivors of the Northern California Camp Fire with my camera. I will be documenting their road trip across U.S. as they search for a new place to call home and find adventure along the way. Sometimes your gut tells you to do something so strongly that it is nearly impossible to ignore the prompting. This is one of those instances. I truly believe that this is an important film, and I am asking for my community’s support in this endeavor. Following is a break down of what it would require to sustain me on the road. 

$7000 for camera and editing equipment 

$3000 for living expenses + camping/travel needs

$2000 for gas money

About the project:

In November I happened upon a fundraiser post for Nicky and Lete - a newly engaged queer couple who had just lost their home in Paradise. I was deeply moved by their story. Lete is a member of the Ajumawi Pit River Nation and has been a firefighter for over a decade. Nicky is a recent and duly proud first generation college graduate of Chico State University. After meeting them in person, I knew I needed to document their story. 

Lete and Nicky, along with their four rescue animals, are living in a tricked-out 1956 Greyhound bus that was donated to them. Now they are taking it on the road.

As the recent tragedy uncovers old wounds from past trauma, theirs is not only an exhilarating adventure but a brave journey into healing. I will be following them on their journey.

If you feel this is an important story, I am asking you, my community, to pitch in to make this happen.

Here’s a little nitty gritty on how your donations can help:

I’m getting the basics ready for a production such as this. I already have my amazing GH5 camera, a tripod, a Sennheiser wireless mic set, and a camera mounted Rode Pro microphone.

But here is some additional gear I really need:

Zoom H4N PRO Digital Multitrack Recorder - Audio recorder that I will definitely need - $199.99

GoPro Hero  7 Kit  - We will  need this for road shots and adventure shots  - $429.00

I record everything onto SD cards. Here are the ones I need: Sony SF-G128/T1 High Performance 128GB SDXC UHS-II Class 10 U3 Memory Card with Blazing Fast Read Speed up to 300MB/s - $220. I’m getting 6 as that will cover me for a full day. I back up end of day. So that's $1320 on these cards.

Then I need the card readers: Sony MRW-S1 High Speed UHS-II USB 3.0 Memory Card Reader/Writer for SD Cards  - I’m getting 6 @ $26.70 each = $160

Leica Telephoto Lens - Roughly $1500

And I need another Sennheiser wireless microphone set (roughly $700)

External monitor: $200

Gimble + remote: $520 

Extra camera batteries, regular batteries: $200

Seagate Hard drives - 6 - $150/each- $900

This is all pre-tax. I’m getting other gear, too, but this gives you an idea of what your donations will cover.
