Camille’s Decompressive Craniectomy

Donation protected
Hello everyone my name is Camille Washington. The collection of funds for this account is to help me on my journey from brain surgery to good health. I have a brain disorder called Chiari Malformation. In Chiari I malformation, there is not enough room at the back of the skull for an area of the brain called the cerebellum. As a result, a portion of the cerebellum (tonsils) gets pushed down through the space at the base of the skull where the spinal cord passes through, creating a blockage. The obstruction in CSF flow (cerebrospinal fluid that surrounds the brain and spinal cord), creates pressure leading to my symptoms. I am having brain decompressive craniectomy surgery. I am having this surgery because for the past three years I have suffered from chronic migraines, neck/shoulder pain/ stiffness and dizziness. As of the last few months my symptoms have gotten worse and I’ve started to experience fainting, random vomiting and nausea, temporary paralysis in either all of by body or one side or the other for hours at a time. I visit the emergency room multiple times a month when that happens. Because of my brain malformation I have developed short term memory loss (at times), and neuropathy in the legs, feet and arms. I experience disequilibrium a lot, I fall and bump into things daily. I have not been able to drive my car because my eyes are affected by my condition especially at night my eyes are either blurred or I experience double vision. The last time I went to the ER was just two days ago for a crook that I’ve had in my neck from October 29th that has left me basically bed bound because I can barley move. I was ordered not to work by my doctor so I haven’t worked since July and my insurance dropped me when they found out I had a brain defect. Any thing medical I’ve been paying out of pocket since July. I will be having a surgery consultation with my neurosurgeon on December 5th and will get my surgery date on that day. Some days I am okay, maybe for the entire day or sometime only part of the day but I do have good days. This surgery is serious and I hope to have the support of my friends and family throughout this journey. After surgery, I will be in recovery and on bed rest and don’t know when I will recover and be able to return to work. The money that is raised in this campaign is for medicine expenses because I pay out of pocket. Some of this money will go towards my surgery expenses and the rest will go to any medical expenses I have during my recovery and for therapy.
I appreciate all that anyone can do or give to help me in my time of need and ask that anyone who wants to pray for me to do so. Love you all!
