Soli Deo Gloriawww.camilleclassics.com
Why are great classics something we are excited about?
Most people when they hear classical music come on the radio can’t change the station fast enough. Their eyes glaze over with boredom at the mere mention of it, and they try to pretend they are still interested in the conversation while wishing that they had never asked you what you do for a living. As a classical pianist, I get this all the time. While classical music has gotten a bad rap, it hasn’t always been this way.
When Bach composed his music he placed the phrase Soli Deo Gloria on the top of every manuscript, saying in essence that all he wrote was for the glory of God. That truly is inspired music, music at its best. As musicians who have come from the classical background, we would argue that the best of music is being lost.
The joy, passion, delight and inspiration is fading out of classical music in the lives of most people, but what it is being replaced with lacks in excellence and inspiration. Camille & I both have the opposite problem of most people, when we turn on the radio station we flip and flip through channels and finally turn it off in frustration. Very few songs have the sparkle we are looking for. That is why we want to bring back the BEST of classical music. As with every genre of music, not all of it is good - but not all of it is bad either. We want to play and sing the songs that make people laugh, smile, want to tap their toes and rise to their feet.
We want to bring back Soli Deo Gloria through precise, accuracy and inspired work. Music played and sung with joy, light and laughter, because if it doesn’t bring joy, then why do it?
In order to reach for this dream, Camille JMJ & Elissa Lorraine have needed to dedicate all their time, full-time to this endeavor. Any help, support or assistance that you would be willing to lend would be greatly appreciated while we go through the process of beginning this new venture.
Thank you so much! And may God be truly glorified.
