What does life coaching have to do with this vision?
An enormous, under-tapped resource exists in the world right now, and it is sorely needed, especially since the World As We Knew It has had such a big shake-up with the pandemic situation. This needed resource is that interesting meshing of skills and experiences and passions that exist within each person, eager and poised to merge into unique expression. We each have something to contribute, both meaningful and needed, that is an outgrowth of 1) knowing our purpose and 2) moving past whatever obstacles would hinder us from bringing our best and fullest self to the world. As a life coach, I will be helping each person find their own answers for these questions and sharing tools that will support clients in making meaningful progress toward making their visions a reality.
As the world is shifting and uncertain these days, I wholeheartedly believe that this is the perfect time for us all to be considering these questions.
Burning Questions
It's always been uncertain whether we'll be walking the earth tomorrow, but the pandemic and continuously posted death counts may be raising these questions for us even more:
⦁ If my earth journey were over tomorrow, would I be satisfied that I had fully shared what I have to offer?
⦁ Have I done what's really important to me in my life?
⦁ What would I need to do now to have no regrets when I get to the end of my journey?
These are always good questions, but especially for those of us at "middle-age," when we're coming to the end of the child-rearing and business-building years, and now we wonder What's Next??? Those were important jobs, AND there is so much more that we now know, so many interests that have been put on the back burner, and a real desire to discover who we might be and what we could offer, if we were to explore our inner wisdom and yearnings. We have had full lives, but much of it might have included fulfilling others' expectations for us, rather than being our fullest and most authentic selves. Now the time is ripe for new possibilities!
Midlife Midwife
I believe everyone has ideas and dreams within them, like embers just waiting to be found and fueled and nourished, which then, like a healthy fire, can warm and brighten the lives of those around them. People who are honoring their inner sparks are naturally more vibrant and energized, and they inspire those whose lives they touch.
As a life coach, I am super excited to support folks
⦁ to discover and nurture those life-giving sparks,
⦁ to learn tools to manage the thoughts and feelings that can thwart our peace and progress, that would try to smother that flame, and
⦁ to become the person they most want to be in the world.
How I got here
I have ALWAYS been interested in what makes people tick, what kind of attitudes and thinking work best, and how people make decisions and move through hard times. So coaching has, in a way, been the through-line interest in my life. My favorite thing to offer friends or colleagues has always been a fresh perspective or point of view that would support them in their music-making and performing or in their interactions with others.
So this "new" career doesn't feel new at all -- it feels like a fabulous fusion of everything I love the most! I allows me to use all the experience and education and skills and observation and training and yearnings that have been alive in me for so long, to support others find that same spark and excitement. Woo hoo!!!
What will training and coaching look like?
I began my formal training in Sacramento in January. I will be completing the class training at the end of August, with 4 foundational courses, plus a course in leading successful groups. Training includes all the most important aspects of professional training, including ethics, organizational change, and working with clients in crisis. There are extensive resources and practice opportunities and ongoing support through the Academy. Then I will be working toward gaining the experience hours and passing the exam to be fully certified through the International Coach Federation (ICF).
I see myself supporting clients in giving birth to their cherished dreams and most authentic self. Coaching can happen individually or in a group, starting sometime in June, with the overseeing support of a Professional Certified Coach from the Academy, as a mentor for me.
Costs of training
I have already paid $4400 to ACE toward my training. $5750 will cover the rest of the coursework. Beyond that I will be paying my mentor coach monthly for the duration of my training.
