A Visionary's Dream: Cornelius' Journey
Tfurndabi Tawong Cornelius founded Tobby Vision Computers (TVC) in 2002 with a mission to provide practical skills training and expand education access to local youth in Cameroon. Inspired by his mentors, who were educators, Cornelius aspired to prepare young people for a brighter future.

Recognizing the growing importance of computer literacy in the age of globalization, he observed a lack of training facilities, qualified teachers, and computers in Cameroon. Using his personal savings and with support from family and friends, he established TVC and embarked on a journey as a social entrepreneur.

In 2012, Cornelius also authored the book "Practical Computer Education for Cameroon Colleges," (link) which was approved by the Ministry of Secondary Education in Cameroon for use by 14-year-old students in all secondary schools across the nation.

TVC received official authorization to operate as a school in 2012. Since its inception, it has trained 987 students in various technical skills across multiple disciplines. In 2015, the African Union Commission recognized TVC as the best 21st-century African model for Technical, Vocational Education Training (TVET). Currently, TVC can accommodate up to 60 students annually, but the demand from the local community far exceeds this capacity due to limited classrooms, workshops, and faculty.

Current Challenges
Additionally, since 2017, the Anglophone Crisis (link) erupted between the Cameroon Armed Forces and separatist rebel groups, that opposed marginalization and perceived discrimination against Anglophones by the Francophone-dominated government. The crisis had escalated into an ongoing armed conflict, causing the burning down of schools, villages, and hospitals, the death of 4K+ civilians, more than 1M children out of schools, and ~700K people internally displaced. Recently, the separatists agreed to allow children to return to school, but insecurity in the region remains a key concern. In response to this, TVC and Journeyman International, a nonprofit aims to integrate sustainable design with social impact projects, decided to construct a new campus that would be more secure for the students and hope to start offering online courses.

TVC has acquired land for more than 400 square meters, and, in 2022, received a permit from the local government to operate this new facility. Upon completion, the facility can accommodate 400 students and support 19 additional workshops annually. Currently, TVC is seeking support to help fund the construction of this new facility.
