Cameron's 2017 Canned Food Drive

Donation protected
Hey everybody, It's Cameron and I'm back for another canned food drive! I'm really hoping to donate 10,000 non-perishable food items this year.  Please help me make this my most sucessful food drive yet.

For the last six years, I have collected canned food and donated it to one of our local food closets that serves Carmichael and 9 surrounding Sacramento zip codes. But I have grown so much over the last two years that I now supply three local food banks. I hope that I can bring in enough food to continue to support all three of them. I now supply Carmichael Presbyterian Food Bank, Carmichael Adventist Food Bank, and San Juan Central Food Bank.

Every year people generously help me by donating nonperishable foods or sending me money that I can use to purchase & donate additional food. Four years ago, I created a relationship with the Grocery Outlet and they let me use the cash donations that I receive to purchase food at a huge discount. This year, with the help of my family, I will continue to accept online donations to make participation easy for everyone.

I started collecting cans to feed the hungry in our community because six years ago when I told my parents I wanted to make PB&J Sammie's and pass them out to the homeless people we passed on the road they were like...no way, not safe, let's think of another option. I wanted to work at the food bank and help serve but I'm not old enough. So  we all decided that the best way for me to help out was with a canned food drive.

Last year, I donated just over 7,800 items to three local food banks. Since the beginning, I've donated a little over 17,400 items in total. That has helped out a lot of families but I know that I can do better. This year, my goal is to donate 10,000 items to  help feed more families. That's a lot of food and I'm going to need help to get there.

If you want to participate with cans and nonperishable foods you are welcome to drop them off at one of my many collection sites OR I would be happy to pick them up after school. If you'd prefer to make an online cash donation I will convert all donations to food, working again with Grocery Outlet again.

I will continue to create oil paintings this year and will be auctioning those off this year as well. All of the money from the oil paintings will go towards my canned food drive as well. I hope you can help me reach my goal this year.

Thank you,

Cameron
