Cameron Asbury - Gift of Graduation

Donation protected
Cameron Asbury needs your “Gift of Graduation”!

He is a 26 year old young man who is due to graduate from Marshall University with a CIT degree, Computer Information Technology with an emphasis in Game Development, in December 2017.  He is one semester, 16 short weeks, away from obtaining his degree that he has fought, struggled and scraped to earn.

But…. This dream will NEVER come to fruition without your assistance.

Cameron has worked relentlessly on his studies, earning good grades, investing unlimited amounts of time and study in game development, he has studied, learned and created at his unpaid internship with Lasso Games, work study at the campus computer lab, and a summer landscaping job, as well as always being there for his family, all while struggling with ADHD without educational or disability accommodations. It was important to him to accomplish this on his own.  He is focused, driven and determined, goal oriented and dedicated to his education and his family.  It has been a long and arduous journey and now the light at the end of the tunnel is just outside of his reach.

Cameron began his educational journey at WVU in Morgantown WV as a Computer Science Major in August of 2009. WVU is a large in-state school.  He did not score high enough on the math entrance exam to start in calculus, this forced him to start at lower levels of math, keeping him from taking many of his required classes, slowing down the progress of his degree plan.

After 5 long years attending WVU, he came home to help assist his ill mother, the very mother who is writing this and now begging for your assistance.  He moved home to care for me during my time of need, and took a year off of school.  When it came time to return to school he chose to stay local and enrolled at Marshall University to continue to be available to me and my needs due to my chronic illness.

It was then Cameron changed his major to CIT with an emphasis on Game Development, he had always wanted to create video games since the beginning of his college career.  It seemed that dream was going to come true. But, transferring schools hurt his degree plan even more.  Upon transfer, he lost a multitude of credits, on top of a slight change of Degree Major costing him two additional years of schooling. He lost all the courses he had accumulated for a minor. The transfer college did not accept quite a few credits but financial aid will not extend your cap on undergraduate funding.

Federal Student Financial aid has now declared that he has reached his limit for financial assistance, therefore there is $0.00 in funding for his last semester, leaving him with no finances to complete his degree. He has earned a $2000.00 scholarship toward tuition for this last term but the remainder of his tuition, $2,239.00 and other school related needs remain un-met; books, fees, software, portfolio completion, graduation fees, cap and gown, and a variety of other course supplies and other necessities. Without the additional funding necessary Cameron will never be able to complete his degree.

Cameron is one semester, 4 courses, an internship and his portfolio away from graduation with no funding to complete his degree.  Without your help with this final $6000.00 he will never be able to graduate! I am his mother, I am partially disabled and financially destitute. I am unable to assist in my son’s education, an education he put on hold to come home and aid me during the onset of my chronic illness, an education that will enable him to be successful and lead a life to be proud of.

I am begging for your help…..if $1.00 is all you can afford then please donate that $1.00.  He is attending Marshall University in Huntington West Virginia, he will earn a CIT degree, Computer Information Technology, with an emphasis in Game Development and with your help he will graduate December 2017 and he will be able to begin his life, a successful life with a hard earned and well deserved undergraduate degree.

Please make a donation today.  Any monetary amount will be greatly appreciated. You may verify Cameron’s enrollment and costs by contacting Marshall University or I will gladly send you any requested documentation. We completely understand that with larger donations you may prefer some type verification process via documentation, etc.

Thank you for your donations and helping make a dream come true and giving Cameron a future.
