Lola's Cambodian Kids Fundraiser

My name is Lola Jackson and I am busy raising funds to go and help a desperate rural community in Cambodia.
In January 2017 I am going to Soksan Village in Cambodia, alongside a group of dedicated volunteers whose aim it is to educate and empower the people of Cambodia through a number of projects and goals.
A lot has been done already, but we’re nowhere near finished. Simple things we sometime take for granted, like education, sanitation and secure housing are still considered wonderful delicacies by the people in Soksan village. I am working with Cambodian Kids Foundation to make these things a reality.
In the beginning, Soksan Village was called Mous Village. It was one of the poorest villages in the province. Even the name was frowned upon, given to it when a drunken man wandered through and decided there were too many mosquitos! It was poor, dirty and falling apart, therefore almost completely avoided by outsiders. Until mum and daughter, Dons and Sam, were told about it and after learning more they knew they had to help these people.
Initially the people in Soksan Village didn’t understand why anyone would want to help them, they didn’t believe they were good enough to be helped! But with the support of Cambodian Kids Foundation the village began to take pride in their community and improved slowly, step by step. Fences, houses, and gardens were built and it was re-named Soksan, meaning Peace, Wealth and Health.
Years on, the village has transformed, and families are being pulled out of poverty, but there is still so much that can be done and it is not easy to do. By donating you will allow me to go to Soksan, roll my sleeves up and help this community with some good old-fashioned hard work.
I realise this is not the best time to fundraise, Christmas is expensive for everyone, but it’s also a time for giving, and the people in Soksan Village will benefit hugely from even the smallest of donations.
