Friends of Camacho Family

Donation protected
This campaign is for the wonderful Camacho family in Northern Virginia. Chloe Rouhani first met the Camacho’s when she spoke with their daughter, Sharon, about starting a middle school empowerment program in their neighborhood. Sharon, then 11, came to love this space and the community support she found there. Today, Sharon, now 15, is working to graduate from the empowerment program and start training to serve the community with her friends. With encouragement from their parents, Sharon’s younger sisters, Yuritzi (12) and Isabela (5) are also being helped to become active in serving their community.

Their parents, Yuri and Freddy, are incredibly supportive of everything they see that brings happiness and growth to their daughters’ lives. They themselves have helped numerous families in need and have taken those serving in their neighborhood in as family. As long as we have known them, Yuri and Freddy have both worked long hours every day to provide the best life they can for their beautiful family of five. They always push their daughters to follow their dreams and to never forget that family is everything. This is why we are so eager to help them out in this time of difficulty.

Chloe recently found out that 2 months ago, Yuri and Freddy were in a car accident which left Yuri with spinal and nerve damage in the neck, causing her to lose her job and health coverage. Their doctor says she may need surgery and cannot work for 8 months to a year in order to heal, restricting the family of 5 to only Freddy's income. Freddy has also suffered back and leg pain, but has sacrificed his own wellbeing to enable his wife to recover and to continue working to support the family as best he can.

The local Bahá’í Community has arisen to support the Camachos in many ways, which has overwhelmed them with gratitude, but there is still a lot they need.

We are now launching this campaign to raise funds to offset the cost of their rent during Yuri's period of healing, which would relieve the family of the greatest share of their financial burden.

Our goal is to raise $2,000 a month which covers the $1,800 cost of their rent with some extra which will be put towards other bills. The total goal of $16,000 aims to help the Camachos pay their rent for 8 months, the minimum time prescribed by their doctor for Yuri to heal before returning to work. Right now, the family is struggling to pay for everything. They have rent, medical bills, car repairs and monthly payments, electric bills, gas, and groceries on their plate to pay for. It has been overwhelming these first few months and we hope to help lighten this burden.
