Help Calvin Hitchcock Beat Cancer

If you are involved with the Georgia Fire Service, Georgia Emergency Management Agency, or Honor Guard, you likely know Calvin Hitchcock, who is currently a Firefighter with the City of Statesboro and used to serve with Hazlehurst Fire Department. Calvin and his wife, Wendy both have such a giving heart and have made a positive impact on all those around them. They constantly are helping everyone around them and hate to ask anyone for anything but I feel we should allow others to bless them now.
Back in January 2022 Calvin went in for routine annual blood work and no “symptoms”. The doctors came back with devastating news that has set their entire world in a spin. Calvin was diagnosed with two rare forms of cancer (overachiever I know); Multiple Myeloma and Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL). After a lot of testing, they finally have a plan of attack, especially since both cancers are more common for those over 60 years of age. They are starting treatment this week (June 16) and say he will be out of work approximately six weeks to three months depending on how he responds to the treatment. The doctors say the cancers have not gotten to the bone yet, so we pray that the routine blood work caught them early even though they are already Stages II/III.
Above all, they ask that you keep them and their boys, Collan (15) and Greyson (13) in your prayers. We are working on a t-shirt fundraiser and raising funds here to cover medical and living expenses. He does have an account set up at Core Credit Union and any funds raised here will be deposited in that account along with donations through Venmo @GeorgiaSafety. Also, Wendy will continue making her amazing cakes and cupcakes to help out too!! If you have an event coming up or weekday sweet tooth attack contact her!!
