<div>My name is Callum rook and I will be running the London marathon in 12 months time wish me luck ! I was born with a relatively rare condition called cystic fibrosis .  Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a genetic condition that primarily affects the lungs and digestive system. It’s caused by a faulty gene that affects the movement of salt and water in and out of cells, leading to the buildup of thick, sticky mucus in the body.

<div>Here’s a breakdown of how it affects the body:
</div>
<div>	•	Lungs: The thick mucus clogs the airways, making it difficult to breathe and leading to frequent lung infections. Over time, this can cause lasting damage to lung tissue.
</div>
<div>	•	Digestive System: CF can block the pancreas, stopping digestive enzymes from reaching the intestines. This makes it harder to absorb nutrients from food, leading to poor growth and weight gain.
</div>
<div>	•	Other Effects: It can also affect the liver, sinuses, and reproductive system. People with CF often need a combination of daily medications, physiotherapy, and regular hospital visits.

<div>CF is a lifelong condition, but treatments have come a long way. Many people with CF are now living longer, fuller lives thanks to advances in care and research.
