Calling on Christmas Angels for Psalm and Bodhi

Hi friends! In October 2022, our bathroom ceiling buckled and began collapsing, releasing months (possibly years) of built-up water and mold into our apartment.
We moved out two days ago on December 11th, however are now dealing with the after effect of two months living in that environment and its effects on our health, finances, and belongings.
While living in the apartment, I developed a lung infection that I haven’t shaken yet, along with trouble breathing, sneezing, burning in the throat, eyes and mouth, TMJ, disorientation, severe forgetfulness, and a number of other symptoms.
The species of mold found by an inspector I hired is aspergillus penicillium, a neurotoxic type that’s known for attacking the respiratory pathways and causing these symptoms.
I have been advised that because mold spores embed in all porous materials, it’s best to throw away items we can’t clean, like rugs, couch, chairs, mattresses, pillows and other thick-fabric items.
We were able to find a great new place, very clean and spacious.
However, in the meantime, we have a lot of work to do, cleaning and disinfecting items, and a lot of items to replace.
Not to mention, that same month—October—I discovered that my little Honda Fit can no longer pass a smog test, so I will either have to spend $2,500+ to repair the car, or buy a new car.
To add insult to injury, my work has suffered and I have made very little in the way of income in that time frame.
We have helpful family and friends, who were able to help us get moved, but this event has put a strain on everyone.
My son’s 11th birthday is on December 17, with Christmas quickly following.
We currently have no Christmas tree and very little prospect of gifts this year.
Christmas is my son’s favorite holiday, so I thought I would humbly place this out to the Christmas Angels of our community and ask that if you have anything to offer to help get us back on our feet and thriving again, please do.
If you’re in the North County area and would prefer to help rather than donate money, there are a number of tasks you can help with…
1. Moving a mattress from Vista to here.
2. Someone to help me haul and donate furniture.
3. Cleaning items and unpacking boxes.
4. Decoration tips. I’m completely flabbergasted about how to structure this new space.
5. Putting up Christmas tree with us.
6. Just keeping me company so I stop spinning. I have so much to do—replace car, new furniture. I could use some support staying out of “danger zone” in my head.
7. Support either fixing my existing car or helping me find a new one.
Thank you and regardless of whether you choose to help or not, I am wishing you a beautiful holiday surrounded by those you love and the best new year yet.
Gratefully,
Psalm and Bodhi
