Support for Ali's Healing Process

Hi loved ones, friends and comrades,

We are writing this on behalf of our loved one Ali (Alison) Christie.

In early March, Ali was suddenly diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a type of cancer that affects the lymphatic system. For those of you who know Ali and those who don’t, she is a community organizer, writer and poet, feminist, tender of young and old, lover, friend, daughter, grand-daughter, maker and bringer of soups, rad-ass witchy queer, bright light and thread weaver in our community.  We really want to call in support from near and far to return the love and care that Ali brings into the world.

Ali has opted for chemo treatment in combination with other complementary modalities to support her healing and recovery in both the short and long term. We are organizing this as Ali’s friends and support system to relieve some of the pressure as she begins to focus on her healing process.  
We hope to raise enough to cover the cost of practical needs over the next 6 months as Ali goes through treatment and puts her energy towards healing. We are still in the beginning stages of determining what the exact costs will be, but your donations will be used to cover:

medication related to treatment (~$1000)

gas money to and from appointments with the oncologists and treatment in Nelson, Kelowna and Vancouver (~$1000)

holistic support throughout, such as bodywork and supplements (~$2500)

organic food that will be essential in Ali’s healing process. (~$2000)



It’s hard to reach out to people when you’re in need of support, especially when asking for a resource like money. Just know that every little bit is appreciated and Ali is very grateful for your financial help. Just a final note:  If you’d like to leave a message for Ali feel free to use the message board as an outlet.  Receiving lots of emails can be overwhelming when sharing personal information via a public forum and it is important for Ali to have the option to choose when she reads messages from her broader community.

And a final final note: for bureaucracy and transparency sake we would like to note here that although this campaign was created under Amanda's name, it is Ani (Anne Marie) Child who is the beneficiary and bank account for your $upport to Ali.
