California Disaster Relief, Recovery & Resilience

Tax deductible
California communities impacted by the 2023 winter storms need your support.

Recent historic rainfalls and atmospheric rivers have resulted in unprecedented flooding, mudslides, and other destruction across California with the worst impacts hitting the most vulnerable members of our communities.

The Federal government and the State of California have declared emergencies as at least 19 people have died, homes are being destroyed, 160,000 citizens are without power, and 34,000 have received evacuation orders.

You can help local communities pull together to respond to the impacts of natural disasters like the 2023 winter storms.

This fundraiser directly supports the California Disaster Relief, Recovery and Resilience Fund, organized by the League of California Community Foundations (LCCF). This fund deploys donations through local community foundations across California to meet emergency needs in the hardest-hit areas of the state and to support long-term disaster recovery and resilience.

Your donation will help community foundations meet critical emergency needs (shelter, food, healthcare and more). It will also help communities recover, rebuild, and become more resilient to future disasters. Learn more about the impact of this fund.

Community foundations are tax–exempt, nonprofit public charities that serve as hubs for local giving and local impact. Community foundations are often the philanthropic “first responders” for their communities during emergencies. Because they are embedded in their communities, they are also leaders in the long-term work of rebuilding, recovery, and resilience.

Want to support a specific community foundation? We've created a list of community foundations in California that have activated emergency response funds for the 2023 winter storms and other recent natural disasters. You can also look up your own local community foundation with this directory.

Thank you so much for supporting the California Disaster Relief, Recovery and Resilience Fund. Can't donate? Please consider sharing this fundraiser link with friends and family.
