Support QT and BIPOC California Evacuation

Dearest Community,

Holding you in deep tenderness, compassion, and care as folks navigate the simultaneous impacts of wildfire, heatwaves, COVID-19, all of which exemplify the violent effects of settler colonialism, white supremacy, capitalism, ecocide, xenophobia, militarism, and beyond. 

I am praying for your breath, for Indigenous lands calling for the native stewards who know and have known them for time immemorial - for our Black, Indigenous, Latinx comrades who are 4-5 times more likely to be hospitalized by COVID-19; for parents; for our more-than-human kin fleeing fire and wracked by climate chaos; for our elders, some of whom are isolated and dying from stagnation.

I'm praying for our collective room to grieve, process loss, and rest, while simultaneously sitting with the urgency of response needed to these state-sanctioned violences.

The second purpose of this fundraiser is to share with grief that River, Emma, and I will be evacuating the Bay Area indefinitely. We are asking for support with this transition. 

There are multiple reasons we have come to this hard decision, as we love and adore our more-than-human and human kin in so-called California so deeply.

These reasons include:
1. Loss of our jobs due to covid-19;
2. Loss of our unemployment compensation due to shitty government;
3. Hardship finding employment compounded by wage theft as BIPOC, neuroemergent, queer, trans, femmes/enbys, generationally low income, etc.
4. Lack of financial cushion or wealth to afford California housing;
5. Immunocompromised: unable to sustainably maintain wellness in wildfire smoke, compounded with concern about COVID-19 exposure;
6. Emma is already back in New York as the primary live-in companion for her immunocompromised and very recently widowed grandmother and is uncertain as to when that will shift;
7. jazmín's grandmother had COVID-19 and is in hospice care; 3-4 additional family members have had covid; their grandfather is also not doing well and transitioning into hospice care; 
8. We are hoping to raise $6600 to support our evacuation and indefinite relocations to Florida (river & jazmín) & New York (Emma).

We understand that in this moment of collective crisis, many of us are impacted in similar ways and are financially stressed; please feel free to forward this within your network or to folks you feel may have more capacity to support financially in this time. We are also seeking prayers of protection, ease, health, and sending those to you a hundred-fold. 

We will be collaborating and sharing the cost of moving, which will include:
1. Support with cost of car shipment x 2 ($2,400)
2. Moving van rental to Florida ($1,000)
3. Hotel/campsite/gas/food costs while driving moving van cross country ($1,000)
4. Unexpected costs & support landing ($2,000)
5. Gofund Me Fees ($200)
