My name is Ariana Holmes, and I am the proud sister of Faith and aunt of Caleb. Our beautiful Caleb was born on March 27, 2018. On March 19, 2021, Caleb's father, my old, dear friend, lost his life unexpectedly.
I am starting this fundraiser because Caleb is three years old. He has lost his grandfather, four uncles, one aunt, one cousin, and now his father--all in a twelve month span. This sweet little guy has experienced more trauma than I ever thought humanly possible, and he still has a long road ahead of him. He only had three years with his dad, just three. When I look at Caleb, I see his dad's infectious smile and bright eyes. Caleb has his personality and his silliness. It breaks every inch of my heart that his dad is gone and I can't believe Caleb will be raised without his guidance and love.
These funds will be used to raise Caleb. Those who have children, and even most who don't, realize how expensive and taxing it is to raise a child, and how much more difficult that journey is to take alone. Faith became a single parent in the blink of an eye, something she never expected or prepared for. Caleb’s daddy did not have a life insurance policy, so the entire financial burden of raising a child is on my sister alone. She needs support in so many ways and the financial side of raising a child is just one aspect of the challenges that now face her. My sister is a special education teacher and her students adore her. Her heart for every child is so big and bold. She is an incredible, fearless mother, and if anyone has the tenacity and courage to raise Caleb to be an amazing individual it is her. But she does need help (something she’s not very good at asking for) and I am doing this to show her just how much and how many people care about both of them.
I am raising $50,000. I am hopeful that the additional security of something for the future will help them be able to grieve Curtis as they should be able to, without worry or fear. I’m praying for a community of people who would surround my sister and nephew with love, affirmation, and security, financially, or otherwise.
