Caleb The Healed One

A lot can change in one phone call.
On Friday, April 26, we received a phone call with the results of our 10 year old son Caleb’s MRI…bone cancer. We were in shock and honestly devastated.
After a biopsy and more extensive tests, Caleb was diagnosed with Stage IV bone cancer, Osteosarcoma, a very rare and aggressive type of bone cancer that only affects approximately 400 children annually in the United States. The doctors also found 2 cancerous nodules on his right lung. The treatment plan for this diagnosis called for immediate and aggressive chemotherapy treatments and surgery to remove a tumor on his left femur and also a prognosis that has been quite daunting.
As of today, Caleb has received 4 of 18 rounds of chemotherapy. He is scheduled to have Limb Salvage Surgery in about 3 weeks followed by months of physical and occupational therapy, learning to walk again with a metal implant where his left femur is now.
Caleb is receiving the absolute best care by the amazing staff at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. Even how we were admitted is a miracle of GOD working on our behalf. We are so grateful for modern medicine but are believing God for miracles that will astound the doctors and cause us all to be reminded of God’s healing power and love for us. We know that our God is Able and is fighting for us. We know that by His stripes we're healed and that Caleb will be fully healed and restored!! God has prompted us to refer to him as such -CALEB THE HEALED ONE!
Please pray for Caleb, for our 13 year old daughter Layla and us. The coming days, weeks and months of treatment. Pray for God’s divine peace and wisdom. This has been really hard for our family but we are determined to choose joy and faith daily. Please pray that faith would continue to rise in us and that we would keep our eyes fixed on Jesus and His promises.
The love of the Father for our son is great…He loves Caleb even more than we do and God’s plans for our son are far greater than we had even imagined. His testimony of healing and restoration will see many come to Jesus, be healed and set free.
Many of you have asked how you can tangibly support Caleb and our family during this season and frankly this has been one of the most encouraging and challenging parts for us. Giving and helping others is easy for us. Asking others to do the same is always exciting and rewarding but asking for help for us and our family is incredibly hard and humbling. However, God has reminded us that we’re not alone and that He will use many to express His faithfulness and to bring provision to our family and that is one of the reasons for this campaign.
You can support us financially by giving whatever amount you can to help us with Caleb’s mounting medical bills. The estimated cost of his medical treatment plan is close to $2 million and scheduled to last 9 to 12 months. And while much of the costs are covered by our health insurance, over the past 7 weeks we have learned that so many things are not and we are having to pay out of pocket for outpatient appointments, medications, equipment like Caleb’s wheelchair, medical supplies needed at home, the costs back and forth to the hospital, missed work, etc.
Also, you can PRAY- We know GOD hears us when we pray and we need your prayers. Let God’s Spirit lead you in what to pray and know that your prayers and your love are felt…it is what continues to sustain us.
We would love to be able to personally reach out to every single one of you who gives and supports us but we want you to know that we love you and thank God for you. No amount is too small…we are grateful for you!
