Where to start, I guess it would be best to start at the beginning, when I was eight years old I was diagnosed with HUS (Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome) which lead to a complete organ failure then and again when I was 14. Although I made miraculous recovery both times it did leave me with chronic renal failure, which for most of my adult life I have been able to manage with a good diet, exercise and a few medications. But for the last half of the year I have been struggling with a host of gastrointestinal issues along with severe anemia and nausea combined with vomiting which has made it almost impossible to function at any normal level. Even though the diagnosis took 4 months of exploratory procedures and a host of different treatments I was finally diagnosed with mesenteric and renal arterial ischemia, which can be caused by renal failure and in turn has decreased my renal function to be categorized now as stage 4 which is the most advanced stage of kidney damage and at some point in the nearer future will require dialysis and a kidney transplant, but that is all for another day.
The good news is the diagnosis of renal arterial ischemia for the most part can be treated with medication and a minimal invasive procedure which in turn could possibly reduce the stress on my kidneys and could possibly postpone dialysis and transplant to a more distant future.
The bad news is, in this time my ability to work has decreased exponentially to the point of not being able to work for the last month or so completely which in turn has put me behind on my bills.
