Sergio Foresti sings Caldara

Excerpt from the recording session of the cd:




My name is Sergio Foresti, operatic baritone. Together with my colleague and friend Stefano Aresi, director of Ensemble Stile Galante, I decided to record a manuscript collection of bass chamber cantatas by Antonio Caldara (1670-1736).

This repertoire is very rare. Usually cantatas were written for soprano and alto voices. There are few cantatas written for baritones and basses.

Many chamber cantatas describe pastoral scenes of love. Some of these Caldara cantatas also do that, while others portray heroic scenes. The music and texts of those are highly  dramatic. They are still chamber cantatas, and yet there is a certain dramaticquality to them.

We would love to bring these musical gems
back to life. Therefore we ask your help to cover part of the cost of production.
