Dear all,
I am Sanam Shantyaei, a journalist based in Paris.
While reporting on the refugee crisis in France, I've come to witness some heartbreaking scenes in Calais, so I decided to raise funds.
Some of these asylum seekers have been there for months, as they wait to cross over to the UK, where they have relatives and speak the language.
But for now, their future hangs in the balance.
As you read this, some 200 of them are living inside very thin tents, often shared among 4-5 men in subzero temperatures. They are pitched amid piles of rubbish in the mud.
With your donations, we have been purchasing them warm winter clothes including: jackets, hoodies, waterproof shoes and thermal underwear.
I will be heading back to Calais in the coming week to distribute these items.
