Caitlin Harrison Breast Cancer Funds
As many of you know, my best friend Caitlin Harrison, was diagnosed on 12/23/2020 with invasive, ductal carcinoma(breast cancer). Her cancer is very aggressive and the pathology showed that she is triple negative, which means that it is not feeding off hormones, such as estrogen and progesterone, or HER2, which is a growth hormone. Triple negative breast cancer is harder to treat and more likely to come back. She is considered Grade 3, which shows how aggressive it is. Stage 3 due to the lymph node involvement. Thankfully no unexpected cancer showed up on her PET CT(the first good news she has gotten since this has all started!!)
Caitlin got a port placed for chemo on 12/30/2020 and started her first round of Taxol and Carboplarin. She will have those every Thursday for 12 weeks. Then she will do 4 rounds of AC(Red Devil) chemo once every 3 weeks. She is facing about 6-7 months of chemo, then a double mastectomy, and possibly an oophorectomy(removal of the ovaries), followed by radiation therapy.
Caitlin is an RN on an ICU step down unit and has had to go on leave from work due to the cancer treatments. She is the head of her household and she has three kids. Mackenzie(12), Jackson(3), and Lincoln(1). Her husband Michael has been staying home with the kids due to covid homeschooling.
Please consider helping Caitlin and her family. She is the most concerned with paying out of pocket for her family’s health insurance while she is on leave from work, along with all the added medical expenses she will have.
She recently moved to Oroville, CA where she and her family bought their first home. Thankfully this move brought her closer to her parents, who have been an amazing support system through all of this. Caitlin is hoping to donate a portion of what she receives from this fundraiser to breast cancer research.
