Cait & Bridget's Mission to Uganda

Bridget’s Story
4 years ago my sister returned from a mission trip to Uganda. Both she and I have participated in many different kinds of service, but never had I seen my sister so changed by a single experience, a single journey.

She shared stories of her time spent working with the Missionaries of the Poor and testified to the pure joy of the people she worked with. Despite being orphaned, poor, sick, or in any other way ‘without,’ the people that Caitlin met in Uganda were hopeful, loving, and dedicated to encountering Christ.

In July of 2019 I will be going with Cait back to Uganda. I so look forward to experiencing this journey with my sister to a country that gave her so very much in return.

During our time in Uganda we will be serving alongside the Missionaries of the Poor, where we will be helping them in their mission to feed and take care of children and adults who would otherwise be left in the slums. We will also be serving at Smile Again Ministries, an organization that serves teenage mothers in need.

All contributions will go towards rooming, food, medicine, and all additional funds will be donated to the people we are serving.

I promise I will bring back a token of appreciation for all of those who contribute.

Thank you!!

-Bridge

Cait's Story
A little over 4 years ago I traveled to Uganda for a month long mission trip. I knew the trip would be life-changing, but I underestimated just how much the people of Uganda would impact me. Throughout my time there I would ask the people what I could do to help them when I returned to the United States, over and over again I heard the same response: "Just come back here one day."

One day, when I was working with a Brother of the Missionaries of the Poor, I asked him if I could send him money or products. He looked me in the eyes and said, "So many people will send us money because they are unable, or too afraid, to come here and help us do this work. Look around. So many children need to be loved, so many need to be fed. We [the Brothers] do our best, but there is never enough hands. Promise to return to Uganda, promise to return. That is how you can help."So I promised.

Ever since I came back to the United States I have tried to find a time to return, but the timing was never right, or I would be traveling alone. But finally the time is right. In July of 2019 I will be returning to Uganda. This time, my sister, Bridget, will be by my side, and I am so excited to share this piece of my heart with her.

I am currently living on a stipend as graduate student, studying Theology at the University of Notre Dame and working at a Catholic church. I will be traveling to Uganda a month after I graduate and do not have the financial resources to cover the cost of this trip on my own. I'm asking that you support me on this journey--both financially and through prayers. I understand that not everyone is able to serve like this, but through your support, I will be able to go for you.

During our time in Uganda we will be serving alongside the Missionaries of the Poor, where we will be helping them in their mission to feed and take care of children and adults who would otherwise be left in the slums. We will also be serving at Smile Again Ministries, an organization that serves teenage mothers in need.

The amount we are fundraising covers the cost of transportation, medicine (malaria pills, etc.), housing, and food. Any additional funds raised will be donated to the people we are serving. A small token of our appreciation will be brought back to you from Uganda.

Thank you so much for your support.

Thank you!!
