Cain Family Fund

This is Becca Cain. She is a bright, funny, loving  15-year-old young lady. In late August of 2018, Becca was brought to the hospital for severe stomach pain from a mass in her small intestine. The mass caused a bowel obstruction and two bowel perforations. She had successful emergency surgery to remove the blockage and repair her bowel.

Unfortunately, this event turned out to be more serious than expected. The mass was sent to pathology, and soon after Becca was diagnosed with Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma. This is the most common type of Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, and is relatively aggressive. It often does not get diagnosed until it has spread (staging TBD, check for updates here). It also is generally found in older white men. Who would have thought a 15-year-old girl would have developed this illness? It's unfair.

After a few more tests (lumbar puncture and bone marrow biopsies), Becca will start chemotherapy, which is expected to continue for 6-12 months. As you can see by Becca's picture, she has a good outlook, and a lot of hope. This is amazing considering she, her twin sister (Abby), and her mother (Laura) are still grieving over the unexpected death of her father (Danny) 9 months ago. She and her family have a great amount of spiritual and emotional support, but as you can imagine, the cost of medical treatments will put a burden on the family.

Thankfully, DLBCL has a relatively high cure rate of about 80%, but Becca and her family have a long road ahead of them. It will require time off of work, co-payments, etc.  As you can imagine, it is very overwhelming, and the actual expenses are unknown right now. Any donation you can give to help offset any medical bills, provide comfort, and ease stress will help. 100% of the donations will go to Becca's care and related expenses. Thank you.
