Caiden’s surgery
Donation protected
For those of you who know us, you’re probably familiar with Caiden’s story. Since he was 5 he has battled multiple health issues including Leukemia along with relapse, Moya Moya brain disease from radiation that required major brain surgery and loss of kidneys due to high dose chemotherapy. He takes about 26 pills a day, 12 different medications, this will be for the rest of his life.
For the last 10 years he has been doing really well. He has had a good stable job for the past 5 years at law firm that he really enjoys.
He found the Love of his Life and is now engaged!
We have been so very blessed and thankful for all of this.
Unfortunately in June he started experiencing some leg pain. After it not getting better he went to doctor and was told he had more than likely just pulled something. He got an injection and it helped for about a week.
By mid July he was constantly in a lot of pain and not able to walk very well. After seeing his primary doctor and getting a CT scan we were told it looked like he had Avascular Necrosis of the hip (AVN). This is a condition that can be caused by chemotherapy, radiation and/or prolonged use of steroids, all of which apply to him. We were referred to an Orthopedic surgeon who then ordered an MRI to confirm the diagnosis. Caiden is in Stage 4 of AVN and now requires a full hip replacement. Since mid July he has been unable to work and is very limited in what he can do. His leg is very weak and often gives out on him. He is now having to walk with a cane.
He and Josie have made the decision to postpone their wedding indefinitely due to the circumstances.
He doesn’t have very good insurance so between medical bills and not working things have been very tight for him. His total hip replacement surgery is being done on September 27th. His recovery time is projected to be about 3 months. We are unsure when he will get to return to work.
We are doing this GoFundMe to help out with his insurance deductible, doctor, and hospital cost that are having to be paid prior to surgery. Physical therapy is another expense that insurance does not cover well. We are praying that everything goes smoothly and that there are no unforeseen issues.
Our goal is $5000 and if we happen to raise anything over that amount it will be donated to Camp Quality Texas.
