This campaign is set up to raise $7,500 to purchase new brochures for Cahokia Mounds State Historic Site. Please help!!
Cahokia Mounds State Historic Site is considered one of the largest and most complex archaeological sites north of the great Pre-Columbian cities in Mexico. It is one of only 22 UNESCO (The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) World Heritage Sites in the United States.
The Cahokia Mounds Interpretive Center is open to the public, administered by the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency and supported by the Cahokia Mounds Museum Society.
All educational programming, research and land acquisition projects are funded by the Cahokia Mounds Museum Society (CMMS). CMMS generates revenue for these efforts with gift shop sales, memberships and donations.
Recently, the hours of operation have been decreased by 25% by the State of Illinois due to budget cuts. Fewer open hours means that the CMMS has a reduced revenue of 25%. As a result, these budget cuts are forcing the elimination of site brochures. These brochures are given to visitors to explain the wonders of what Cahokia Mounds has to offer.
The purpose of this campaign is to help the Cahokia Mounds Museum Society purchase new brochures in order to continue to enlighten and allow visitors to have the best experience possible. Our goal is to raise $7,500 to cover the cost of printing 200,000 brochures.
