Cafe Jacqueline

Hello everyone,

I’m reaching out on behalf of one amazing french woman, who happens to also be my mother,  Jacqueline Margulis. Jacqueline,  at the age of 83 can still run a restaurant, do all the shopping herself, and  turn a few eggs into some incredible  soufflés. She is also the owner, proprietor, and chef at Cafe Jacqueline, a small dining restaurant which began in 1979 in the North Beach neighborhood of San Francisco. As the chef of Cafe Jacqueline, Jacqueline has served thousands of people from all over the world and all walks of life.

In the middle of March of this year, as the whole world began to realize the breadth and severity of the COVID19 pandemic my mother continued to work and serve as long as she could.  On March 17th she began to suffer from severe stomach pains and was admitted to the ER undergoing an emergency surgery (thankfully not related to the coronavirus).  Her emergency procedure was long and her postoperative status was described to me as critical but hopeful.  After three challenging weeks in the ICU she is now thankfully home recovering and we are counting our blessings, but, as you can imagine,  her restaurant is closed along with everyone else’s.

We have  been struggling every day trying to find and apply for small business loans on her behalf, but it seems like all the bigger companies were able to secure the loans, and we couldn't.  At this point, we are looking for any option that will help keep her small (yet amazing) restaurant alive.

Our goal is to give my mother enough time to fully recover and get back behind her bowl of eggs and continue doing what she loves the most in this world, running her small restaurant and whipping up soufflés.   We are crossing our fingers that  she will be able to return to her restaurant soon,  but this can only happen if she is able to keep her establishment afloat without actually generating income.  This is where we need any support you can provide.  The donations will be used to keep her business alive,  by maintaining her staff and business expenses until Jacqueline is healthy and ready to return to open her doors.

Many thanks to all in advance for taking time and reading this request.  Blessings and good health to all.

On behalf of Jacqueline and her whole family thank you.
