What is Café Fia?
Café Fia (Gaelic for "deer") is a Community Café in our village of Coolaney, nestled at the foot of the Ox Mountains in Co. Sligo. It is the first of its kind in Connacht and is 100% owned and operated by the local community.
Our community needed a place to meet and didn't have one. So in February 2016 a group of 25 volunteers came together to create a café for our community. Since then we’ve established a co-op and open as a pop-up on weekends in the Community Centre.
Our delicious breads, cakes, tarts and soups are all produced locally. Our volunteers from all ages and backgrounds serve top quality coffee and tea with a warm welcome.
Our Vision
We are working with Coolaney Development Co. to secure a permanent home for Café Fia in Coolaney.
Once we raise the funds to buy a premises, Café Fia will be a meeting place for visitors and locals to relax and chat while enjoying delicious food and drink.
