Milo’s Medical Bills

We are the Shifflet’s.  Our family pup, Milo came to us this spring as a 4 month old Bernedoodle.  He’s been a bundle of goofy energy and infinite sweetness since the day we got him.  

To say this year has been rough for us all is an understatement.  Through job loss, we have pinched pennies, and recently, had a far more modest Christmas than usual as our bills pile up.

Unfortunately, our sweet boy has not been himself for several days now.  Three days ago he began vomiting and stopped all eating and drinking.  He’s been lethargic and dehydrated. His small and large bowels are distended.  After normal bloodwork, and inconclusive X-rays, the vet’s best guess is that there is a fabric-type blockage that will likely require exploratory surgery to resolve. 

As we head to the emergency clinic, hopeful that an ultrasound will give us an answer(or a miracle), we dread that surgery may be Milo’s only hope.  

Milo is not even a year and a half old.  We simply cannot afford what doctors told us would bea minimum $3500 surgery.  We have already put about a $1000 into tests and we simply can’t do more.  We are told that Milo is an excellent candidate for the surgery, and that he would recover well due to his age and otherwise good health.   But surgery may not be an option because of finances.

We already had to let go of one of our fur babies earlier this year.  We have another 15 year old fur baby, who we have been facing end of life decisions with due to old age.  I hate the thought of having to lose all 3 of our family members this year.  Life without any of them just won’t be the same.  If you can spare anything to help us get Milo back to himself we’d really appreciate it.  He’s the joy and light in our house, and we can’t imagine losing him so soon.  May 2021 be a better year forALL of us
