Hope for Cindy

Dear Family & Friends,
I've started this fund with the hopes of providing some "hope" for what seems like a "hopeless" situation for my dear little sister, Cindy Klinger.
Many of you might know, Cindy is just 44 years old. She has been sick for many, many years. She is on permanent disability, and has been for several years. She is unable to work and enjoy life to the fullest, like many of us take for granted. Her dear daughter Brooke has always known her Mom to be sick, and doesn't remember her being healthy and able to do things with her like other Moms can do with their kids. Her dear husband, Rick, married her, after dating her for 10 years, knowing full well how sick she really was/is. Now, that is what I call love and commitment! While she has their love and support, and her husband works extremely hard to cover the insurmountable medical expenses, this has taken such a huge toll on this family.
Cindy's health continues to decline and is getting progressively worse, and she's running out of options, resources, and mosst of all, "hope".
Cindy relies on a cane- and sometimes a walker or even a wheelchair- to get around, even just in her home. She relies on oxygen tanks and other machines to breathe, and multiple prescriptions to cope with daily, chronic, intense pain she suffers every moment of her days.
Cindy has been diagnosed with so many things. Her most recent diagnosis is: Rheumatoid Lung- inflammation of the lung-which is caused by Rheumatoid Arthritis. In addition to that very recent diagnosis, she also has been diagnosed with:
1. Severe Rheumatoid Arthritis
2. Chronic Pain Syndrome
3. Leucocytoclastic Vasculitis-inflammation of blood vessels. Having chronic vasculitis can be severe in that the tissues and organs dont get enough blood. This causes her to swell up and get painful sores all over ..including in her mouth, on her face, etc.
4. Myositis- inflammation of muscles - which causes weakness, swelling, pain, infections, autoimmune conditions, muscle damage, etc. This is caused by the arthritis.
5. Respiratory Bronchiolitis- ILD (interstitial lung disease)-also caused by arthritis- in which she's had so severe that her lung collapsed and she was in the hospital for over 40 days.
6. No immune system
7. Fibromyalgia
8. COPD
9. Asthma
10. Irritable colon
And..lastly..she's been diagnosed with severe depression and anxiety caused by living with chronic pain, isolation, and all that comes with living with these chronic illnesses.
Cindy's "case" is very complicated. Her team of Doctors have done all that they can do, including putting her on chemotherapy to hopefully kill the toxins in her body so that she could try an injection that might help her. They did do the injection but her body reacted to the medication, and she developed septice and was in ICU for 4 days. She nearly died from that.
There are medicines on the market that we see advertised for some of her diagnosis'..that she is not able to even try because she has no immune system. She cannot run the risk of any type of infection, so she cannot seek althernative methods for relieving pain such as acupuncture. And, as for supplements, vitamins, drinks, etc...her Dr's. tell her it would not change any of her symptoms, as they say her illnesses are too far progressed for any of them to help her.
There is one last "hope"...at least one last medicine..that could help. After several days of tests, evaluations and consultations with several Dr's. at the infamous Mayo Clinic..there is a recommendation of a drug that could help her. It's called: Anakinra. But, even with her insurance coverage, this drug costs thousands of dollars a month!
This is why I'm reaching out. If there is anything you can do for Cindy, to help her to afford to try this medication, she will regain some hope, and possibly, God willing, some much needed physical healing.
