Dave Lyons ALS (Lou Gehrig's)

Hello friends – Meet Dave Lyons, a faithful Charter Communication employee for the past 15 years. Dave had to resign his position July 7, 2014. You see, Dave was recently diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), often referred to as “Lou Gehrig’s Disease.” ALS is a progressive and terminal, neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord, which results in the loss of muscle mass. As voluntary muscle action is lost, patients need increased help with daily routine activities and in getting around their homes in a wheelchair.

The problem is Dave’s modest home needs to be expanded to accommodate his wheelchair in the bathroom, his bedroom, and the living room. The cost of construction is approximately $40,000 to expand these rooms so that Dave can navigate his wheelchair throughout his home.

As a dedicated husband and an involved father of three young children under the age of 10, Dave has coached Little League Baseball for his kids for the past several years. He looks forward to being able to encourage his children and others on their teams from the bleachers in 2015.

Please be as generous as you can in donating to help us modify Dave’s house right away so that he can maneuver his wheelchair around his house and continue to be involved with his children’s activities.
