Help John Live His Cancer Life Fund

Donation protected
The most wonderful, caring, hard working man we know needs a new home and a handicap access van to be able to get around. He had his life changed in an instant on March 1st of 2014 when he was diagnosed with the most aggressive form of brain cancer there is. He has glioblastoma multiforme 4. This diagnosis brings with it a death sentences of anytime with the average person living 15 months and some making it 20 years. He started out by saying he would be the 1% that makes it 30 years. So far he has made it 17 months and has only had one recurrence but has had many side affects. The most significant being that he is wheelchair bound with no light at the end of the tunnel for walking again because of bloodclots in the legs that took his ability to walk and even get in to his own vehicle. Despite this he still wants to go back to work to provide for his family because he knows that disability is not paying the bills. He also tries to get around the house to do things for himself but struggles because the house that we own is not wheelchair friendly. He can not even get into the bathrom to take a shower because we do not have a walk-in shower and the wheelchair will not fit through the bathroom door. He tries to get to other rooms of the house and gets stuck in corners because the halls are narrow and he can not get turned around.  In an effort to make what remains of his life more comfortable we have decided that we need to sell our current home and buy one that is more wheelchair friendly. Unfortunately in order to make the sale work, we need to sell or current home for more than it is currently worth. We have upgrades that need to be made to raise the value of the house. If we can put in $10,000 worth of repairs on the home we can raise the value enough to pay off our current loan and purchase the new home with the changes that we need. This new value will still leave us with the same mortgage amount that we currently have but since I have to provide 24 hour care to him our two young adult wonderful children are working to help provide some supplemental income so that Dad does not have to worry about going back to work. I wish that they did not have to do this but we see no other way. We also need to purchase a used wheelchair ramp van so that we can get him in and out of the vehicle to get him to doctors and give him some of his life back. He can no longer drive but loves to get out of the house. We are currently borrowing a van from friends but do not always have access to it and when we do it is not always reliable because of it's age which leaves us not able to transport him. He ends up sitting in the bedroom most of the day watching tv because he can not get around in or out of the house without a bigger place and a van to get around. As you can see we REALLY need help. We are not the type to ask for charity but have come to the point that we can not make his life better without help from wonderful people who care about others. God has blessed us with wonderful friends and family but they can only do so much. PLEASE HELP US MAKE HIS LIFE WORTH LIVING!
