Subha's urgent kidney transplant and support fund

My name is Nippon Shrestha, Son of Subhadra Shrestha. She is a woman with a big heart who has spent pretty much her entire life caring for others and their loved ones in her role as a mother, friend and a caring human being. We can’t remember a time when our mother hasn’t gone out of her way to try to help someone if she is able. But when someone is busy taking care of others, they often forget to take care of the most important person, themselves. In 2015, my mother was diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease and has been on the active kidney transplant list with the Dharma Bhakta Organ Transplant Center in Bhaktapur, Nepal for almost 4 months. As all mothers do to protect their children, she downplayed how serious her condition was. Earlier this year we were told she had reached Stage 5 CKD, meaning her kidneys have lost nearly all of their ability to function effectively. At this point, our options are eventually dialysis or a kidney transplant in order for her to live.

Our mother is everything to us. She provided tremendous strength and support for our family through everything while battling through her own health issues; there was no question she would fight this just as hard as possible. Like the children she raised, we knew we needed to give it our best shot to fight this with her and keep her around as long as we can. After months of numerous tests, screenings and waiting, we were blessed with the news that my sister can be the candidate for kidney donation. I am not able to do those test because, I am working abroad sustaining my family and expenses for my mother treatment. My family depends on my earning. I am more than egar to do all those test and donate my own kidney if its a match. But due to circumtances I am unable to do it. My sister has agreed willing to be a living donor for our mother. We would do everything that is possible to save her.

We are trying to set an official date for transplant as soon as possible but due to Covid 19 the date has been delayed until further improved results of Covid19 in our country. That is why she is going through dialysis for 3 days a week, 4 hours each day. It’s an anxious time for us as each day we are waiting for the date to be booked and she is going through dialysis and getting weaker each time .

These are very serious treatment and surgeries for our mother and my sister, we are setting up this fundraising campaign to help offset the enormous costs associated with the transplant. There are large expenses (including medications, treatment, hospital expenses, transplant charges, transportation, housing, loss of income, etc) which will be very difficult to cover. Following the surgery, after-care is crucial as both my mother and sister require a personal caregiver and with all the medications and treatments for monitoring and numerous follow up appointments.

Our mother is the most incredible and strongest person we know. We are asking that you please donate what you can and spread the word. All funds you donate will solely be used to cover the costs associated with the surgery, medications, and other expenses related to our recovery. We also welcome any thoughts and prayers as our surgery date approaches. If you have any questions, please feel free to email us using the contact link on this page. We cannot thank you enough for your help and support.
