Green Gables is the historic home built in 1896 by William and Nora Wells in Melbourne, FL. It is located in US1, right on the Indian River. I am president of the non-profit organization that has saved and is restoring this historic home and property as a Living History Museum, education and community center. Hurricane Nicole took down several of our 126 - 135-year-old Oak trees, devastating much of the property. The estimated cost of removing these HUGE fallen oaks, taking down three more that are in danger of falling on the house, clearing the debris and grinding the stumps is much more than we can afford. We also hope to plant new oaks to replace the ones lost. We must channel our donations and proceeds from fundraising to restoring the home and operating our museum, education program and community events. We are starting this go fund me to cover the cost of restoring the idyllic acre and a third of green space that serves the community so well. Please help us preserve the beauty, serenity and usefulness of the grounds of Green Gables. We are a 501C3 non-profit organization, and you can visit us at www.greengables.org or check out our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/SaveGreenGables.
