John's Transplant Relocation Fund

In December of 2013, my dad, John Lopez, was taken to the ER with excruciating stomach pains. Tests were run and his diagnosis was kidney stones (ouch!), little did we know that this would be the beginning of our cancer journey as a family. Complications came about and it led them to run further tests and to have a second opinion since his platelet count was MUCH lower than the average male. We were told that it was very possible that it could be Leukemia since all symptoms were pointing to it. Just to be sure they were sent to UCSF to see a specialist. After many more tests and bone marrow biopsies (six has been done so far, double ouch!), it was then confirmed that he had LGL Leukemia (Large Granular Lymphocytic Leukemia). What we didn’t know was that my dad’s cancer was very rare and unique, which left the doctor’s VERY flustered. He was put on many rounds of chemo and medications in hopes of remission; sadly, there were no signs of improvement. Our last hope is a bone marrow transplant, which means a three-month long stay in San Francisco. As you all know which is very expensive, anything will help to ensure my parents to not worry over money while my dad is on his yearlong road to recovery.

Thank you all for the kind words and continued prayers
