Help Us Run for JoEllen - Kaiser Permanente Half Marathon

Donation protected
We will be running the Kaiser Permanente Half Marathon at Golden Gate Park, San Francisco on February 5, 2012 to raise funds for JoEllen Cook's cancer treatment. Team "Keep Hope Alive for JoEllen" includes Shawn Allen, Leilani Han, Fabiola Addamo and Heather Williamson.

JoEllen has defied all the odds for almost 32 years. Her love for life and her family is what keeps her going. She has outlived many of her doctors who have told her to give up! She exudes positivity and is full of love, appreciation and hope. She always has a smile on her face and never complains of her pain.

Her fight against cancer continues and is now in a phase of experimental medicine at the Burzynski Clinic. This treatment is making a remarkable improvement and needs to continue. She exemplifies courage and grace in her effort to continue on her path towards the discovery of a cancer-free body.

Please read the following email from her, donate if you can, and at least help us spread the word and keep hope alive for this very special lady!

"Dear Heather,
I have been battling cancer since my first diagnosis back in October of 1980. I underwent radiation and chemotherapy and was pretty healthy for a few years, but then it came back again having moved location to other soft tissues and also to the bones. In 1994, entered more treatment, chemo and radiation. I have battled many new cancers when they show up and move around. From 1994, my problem moved to the bones and most lately in the brain. I have now come to have hand tremors that are making my computer typing skills nearly impossible. I have been released from treatments in Muncie, In. and in Indianapolis, as having no future in treatments. But I am not ready to sit back and wait to die just yet. I still love to smell the flowers and each day is precious. I am in an experimental program at the Burzynski Clinic in Houston, Texas. This is a cutting-edge cancer research institute. www.burzynskiclinic.com. My cost for the first month was $34,000 and it will be $4,500 each month for the medications to keep me in the program. The program is helping and I am getting stronger. It really hurts to ask for help but our savings are about gone and the treatments need to continue. Aunt Jo-Ellen Cook."
