College Education

Hi my name is Alexis and I've been accepted into Bard College in Upstate New York for the Fall 2014 studying Biology. I am due to leave next week on August 8 to move into the dorm and begin my freshman year. Unfortunately, my mother had a major heart attack on Sunday and has been at Cedars Sinai in a medically induced coma. She has blinked an eye and moved a hand so far, but no major changes as of yet. Due to this unfortunate situation all of our resources and funds are going to my mother. That being said, there are payments and expenses that were schedule for my education and for months to come. I am raising $10,000 to cover getting another family member to fly with me to New York to get me moved in and settled into the dorm because the airline would not allow us to change the name on my mom's ticket. Bard College has offered me a generous financial aid plan; however I still have a little under $8,000 in tuition expenses to cover my first year. My tuition plan includes a meal plan, health insurance, and two special programs that are required for freshmen that have additional fees. This week I have a payment of $1,175 to pay to Bard which they are allowing me to pay when I arrive next week. I also, have three payments $750 for the month of August, September, and October; then another two payments of $1,080 for the months of November and December, and lastly three payments of $750 for January, February, and March. In addition, I still have to ship my boxes to Bard College, and buy things for my dorm like a mini refrigerator, microwave, bedding for the winter, and other dormitory necessities.
Your support is greatly appreciate. I'd hate for my mother to wake up and be heart broken that I skipped my first year of college due to these unforeseen circumstances. Thank you guys for all of your support, and if you could keep my family in your prayers, that would be amazing.
