Help Restore Their Electricity

Donation protected
We are doing this for some friends of ours. Please read this all the way through.

We have some friends, Steve and Laura, that have found themselves in the unenviable position of having their electricity turned off. Over this last summer, their finances got pretty upside down, and one of the things that they had to let go by the wayside, was the electric bill. There were actually enough other things, that required more attention, than their electric bill. That is the financial position, in which they found themselves.

The utility company, which is Empire District Electric which is owned by Liberty Electric, is not just happy with them paying their back balance. No...In order to turn the electricity on, Empire is also requiring them to pay a $650 deposit. Coming up with some money for the back balance was going to be nearly impossible, but this added burden, has put this so far out of range, that they will have no electricity for the foreseeable future. It's almost as though, Empire doesn't want them to be able to get their electricity turned back on. If they had that kind of money, they wouldn't be behind on their electric bill.

They are currently taking cold showers, they are cooking on a barbecue grill, and a portable butane burner, and have got camping lanterns, for light in their home. They lost most of the food in their refrigerator, and a great deal of the frozen items, including a great deal of venison, and other meats, that were in a chest freezer. Just the replacement of these foodstuffs, is going to be expensive. They're been using a couple of large chest coolers, to hold on to their remaining items,. But the cost of buying ice, is becoming rather expensive, as well. They have a small, school-age child, Mackenzie, that lives in the home with them. This situation, has been particularly hard on her.

If you can find it in your hearts to help a very worthy family, that is hard working, does the right things, are there when their  friends are in need, and finds themselves being the ones in need now, I personally, would appreciate it very much. These people, while in a terrible situation, are too proud to start a GoFundMe on their own. They have begrudgingly given me permission, to do so. These are people who don't like handouts, and they're not big on asking for help. THESE, are the kind of people, the deserve to be helped, when they need it. Even if you only donate $5, $3, a single dollar...you will be making a HUGE difference, in a deserving family's life.
