Help Maritza In The Fight For Her Life

On Christmas Eve, we overheard our 6 year old daughter ask her Elf On The Shelf to sprinkle "get well dust" on Maritza. You see, three weeks ago our 41-year-old friend, Maritza Hidalgo, was diagnosed with Stage 4 esophageal cancer. Since then, her life has been consumed with doctors visits and trips to the emergency room. She goes five days a week to receive a combination of radiation, chemotherapy and, more often than not, depressing news. She can no longer work as a cleaning woman, which is having a devastating impact on her and her lovely family, for whom she is the primary breadwinner.
Those of us who are so lucky to have Maritza in our lives, want to raise money to help care for her and her family. Will you help us, too? Anything you can afford to donate would be wonderful and every cent raised will be sent immediately to the Hildalgos.
Of course, we understand that money might be tight, especially at this time of year... so at the very least, please forward this email to anyone you think might be able to assist.

Maritza has been a part of our lives for over fifteen years. She has been our housekeeper, our children's first babysitter and our dear friend. Maritza began working for Marshall when her son, Brian, was just a toddler. He often came along and played quietly while Maritza worked. Now, as a high school senior, Brian, his mother Maritza, and his father, Carlos, are faced with a very uncertain future. The one thing that is certain - their medical expenses will be unbearable. And we are not sure how they will pay their every day expenses with the loss of Maritza's income. Please help this family in this fight for their lives.
