Please help assist Carmen Brown with Nursing Care and Medical Bills.
Carmen's Journey began March 2, 2014. Carmen was born at 23 weeks and 6 days right at the age of viability and weighed 1 pound 6 ounces. This has devastated our family in so many ways. Carmen at birth required the assistance of a ventilator which became her support  for more than 90 days. We feared she would never get off and where told she may require a tracheostomy but GOD saw us through. She now requires oxygen to breath. Carmen has been challenged with Bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) a chronic lung disease of infancy when born prematureand retinopathy of prematurity (ROP), which is abnormal blood vessel development in the retina of the eye.

Carmen has spent her whole life in the NICU at Wolfson Children's Hospital and we are just waiting for the moment we can take our baby girl home to meet her family. Carmen has not been able to meet her bothers and sisters due to her very fragile state of health. We are very concerned with her contracting anything from the other kids so we control who we allow to come visit her. However, we take many picture and make videos of Carmen's journey to health and coming home.

We have not in a million years thought that we would embark on a 5 month journey that is just the beginning of the long road to normalcy. We have embarked on and emotional roller coaster of promising high and devastating lows. But this little miracle girl fought and fought and moved forward beyond every obstacle and ever sickness that she was faced with. She displayed what she was born with, winner in her blood. She gave us faith that defied all the facts. We have spend countless hours traveling back and forth to the hospital making sure we show love and support to our little fighter.

They said she’ll have brain bleeds, they said she wouldn't be able to see or hear, they said she wouldn't breath, but with assistance she is! Through Prayers and the power of GOD she’s still here being encouraged and being loved by her mom, dad, family and friends. Now 5 months later we are almost to the projected release date, with Oxygen tanks, feeding tube, 24 hour continous  pulse oxmonitoring and a apnea monitor. We were stricken with Carmen getting sick again before discharge which made her unable to come home.  We have discovered Carmen can't handle being bottle fed and continues to develop aspiration pnuemonia. We are now faced with various needs, which include home nursing 7 days a week, medical supplies, traveling expenses, and future co-payments. We have also been told that our insurane does not cover the nursing that will assist with keeping her alive. Carmen needs oxygen to surive because without her oxygen sats begin to drop.

We are a family with one income and a family that must work to make it. Therefore, we are reaching out to Family, Friends, and those of you that feel compelled to help a family in need. Please DONATE no amount is too big or too small. Keep us in your prayers. We also are very thankful for those that stop in and read our story because PRAYER CHANGES THINGS GOD BLESS.
