Eight years ago when Ben Chivers was 24 years old, he broke his neck diving into shallow water at the beach and was left a quadreplegiic with limited mobility in his arms. With intensive physiotherapy he has been able to build up strength and confidence to be able to go out and smash the fairways.
Being in Ben’s situation it is difficult to get out of the house and do regular activities. With a specialised golfing attachment he will be able to get out and play a sport and get in amongst the sporting community again.
His whole life he has had a sporting lifestyle but the accident has limited his abilities. He has never had a chance to play a sport that he is interested in since the accident until now.
We have found a company that specialises in specifically designed mobility equipment (the Dreamfit Foundation) that can build a golfing attachment for Ben’s chair so he can join in the Mediocre Golf Association and play golf regularly with his friends.
We are asking for assistance to fund the build of the golfing attachment as to give Ben a chance to get back into the sporting scene.
Initially we are hoping to raise $12,000 to cover the costs of the golfing attachment and if we are fortunate to have any more raised, it will be used to purchase Ben more mobility equipment so he can join in with other activities with his friends such as lawn bowls and fishing.
